Below is a copy of the email sent to all club secretaries in East Gwent following the discussion around the procedure for Pitch Inspections.
All clubs are aware of this now, so there are no excuses and it's important that all Referees followed the same process as discussed and recorded during the October Meeting to ensure fairness and consistency across the board for all clubs. Here is a reminder of the points advised and information provided:
So, to confirm in East Gwent there are no clubs that fall under the Local Authority, meaning that no East Gwent Club should be calling any fixture off without the pitch being inspected by a qualified match official sent by Referee Appointments officer Marcus Jenkins or the Referee allocated to the fixture on that day’s game.
Brian has confirmed that an email will be sent to all clubs in East Gwent reminding them of the procedure for Pitch Inspections and that officials need to be paid travel expenses for Pitch inspections requested prior to 11.30am.
Any clubs that request a pitch inspection close to kick off time and the Match Referee has no time to return home between completing the pitch inspection and the original time to arrive for the game will need to pay the Referee half match fee plus the 0.35p per mile. Referees should advise clubs of this prior to travelling to the ground, so the club have the time to arrange the money for you.
All clubs should pay half match fees (where appropriate) and expenses on the day and not at a later date. If you are not paid then include this in the email to Marcus and Brian following the pitch inspection.
Hi all,
In recent weeks games have been postponed without the proper procedure being adhered to, please read Rule below.
16)d The HOME club Must inspect their pitch by 11am on the Saturday and if in doubt as to the condition MUST telephone the Fixture Secretary who will then arrange for a referee to carry out a pitch inspection, this referee is to be reimbursed his travelling expenses, if declared unfit by the local authority and or the groundsman the Fixture Secretary must be informed immediately. If the game is postponed the Home club MUST telephone the Secretary of the away club and the match referee. Both secretaries must also telephone the Fixture Secretary confirming the postponement of the game by 12 noon. If this procedure is not carried out the offending club or clubs are liable to be fined by the Management Committee.
Regards Brian
